Open Book Clinical/Cookie Policy

Cookie Policy

Last updated: July 2025 · OpenBook Clinical Pty Ltd

OpenBook Clinical uses a small number of essential and functional cookies. We use no advertising cookies, no tracking pixels, and no third-party analytics that identify individual users.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work correctly and to remember your preferences between visits.

Cookies can be session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (remain on your device until they expire or you delete them).

They can also be classified by who sets them: first-party cookies are set by the website you are visiting; third-party cookies are set by a different domain, typically for analytics or advertising.

2. Cookies we use

We use two categories of cookies: Essential cookies that are required for the service to function, and Functional cookies that remember your preferences to improve your experience.

sb-*Essential

Supabase authentication session — keeps you logged in between pages

Duration: Session

stripe-*Essential

Stripe payment processing — required during checkout and billing portal

Duration: Session

nps_suppressedFunctional

Suppresses the NPS (Net Promoter Score) survey after you have already responded

Duration: 30 days

whats_new_seenFunctional

Tracks the last changelog version you have seen so we don't show the 'What's new' badge repeatedly

Duration: 1 year

saved_searchesFunctional

Stores your saved search presets locally for quick access

Duration: 1 year

search_countFunctional

Counts your searches so we know when to show the NPS survey (triggered after a certain number of searches)

Duration: 30 days

3. Cookies we do NOT use

No advertising or tracking cookies

We do not use cookies to track you across other websites or to build advertising profiles.

No Google Analytics or similar analytics cookies

We do not use Google Analytics, Hotjar, Mixpanel, or any other third-party analytics tool that sets cookies identifying individual users.

No cross-site tracking pixels

We do not use Facebook Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, or any other tracking pixel.

No fingerprinting

We do not use browser fingerprinting techniques to identify or track users.

4. Managing cookies

Essential cookies cannot be disabled — they are required for the service to function (authentication and payment). Disabling them will prevent you from logging in.

Functional cookies can be cleared via your browser settings at any time. Clearing them means the platform will no longer remember your preferences (e.g. you may be shown the NPS survey again, or your saved search presets may not appear).

How to clear cookies by browser:

Google Chrome

Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data → See all cookies and site data → search "openbookclinical" → Delete.

Mozilla Firefox

Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data → search "openbookclinical" → Remove Selected.

Safari (macOS)

Safari (iOS)

Settings → Safari → Advanced → Website Data → search "openbookclinical" → Edit → Delete.

Microsoft Edge

5. Third-party cookies

The only third-party service that may set cookies on your device is Stripe, our payment processor. Stripe may set cookies during subscription checkout and when you access the billing portal. These cookies are governed by Stripe's own cookie policy.

We do not integrate any other third-party services that set cookies. If this changes, we will update this policy and notify users via the Privacy Policy update notice.
